PHP version looks cleaner and more understandable for me.

Also any person who knows all three would say the same. (Or I may be wrong due to poor variable naming)

See the comparision below:
                                             PHP Perl Python
Web application Good Best (ModPerl rules) Better
Stand alone application Good Better Best
Algorithms Good Better Best
Libraries Good Best Better
Speed I Good Best Best
Speed II (With time and extension) Gr8 Gr8 Gr8

My simple conclusion:

1) Pick any language for any task (Even stupid task like writing desktop game programming with PHP). But Learn to write uncluttered syntax.

2) Do all the things possible with the avaliable libraries. If there isn't one you want develop yourself.

3) If speed is ok ignore all other issues. If speed is not ok extend using C/C++.

Cheers,

awesome! i enjoyed every moment of the spectacular event.
on the flip side, i wonder how many lives were lost in the process? and how much from social infrastructure building was taken away from public spending?
a great attempt by China to prove its out to take over the world...

i agree it was interesting reading.. however, it mostly feels like the author is attempting to justify her decision and to convince herself that moving back was the right decision.. and even if there is nothing wrong with that, her reasons often seem fake. for example, listing the fear that her daughter may turn out to be a britney spears clone. i have seem my share of britney spears (and maybe worse) cloning attempts in indian teenagers in india...
for someone who herself is trying to decide if she will ever go back, all is can say is, if i do back back it would be for some REAL reasons!

I agree... There are certainly too many constraints right now to actually use the service for a enterprise setup. It ain't very secure either. But I assume, google is going to provide more as with time.

seems like someones been busy but you still managed to get the early invite. Im on the wait list. The App Engine sounds good news but it comes with its restrictions, their choice of language, their choice of database and their platform and frameworks. But could be a good first step to a scalable web app.

I want to beat you up now. I really do.
Maybe, I'll come there and do it.

Though, nice thought and all.
